The breast screening service is made up of different people who work together to ensure the best possible services and support for our patients.
The staff team work hard to ensure they provide a supportive and effective service. The breast screening team is made up of a multi disciplinary team including:
Mammographers – These are the people who take the breast x-rays when you attend screening. All of our mammographers are female.
Radiologists – This team of doctors specialise in breast cancer.
Breast care nurses – Support patient through the assessment clinics and those who have been given a diagnosis of breast cancer.
Clinical Support Workers – this staff group work alongside our mammographer and radiologist staff supporting the running of clinics for screening and assessment.
Health promotion – Works within the community and with health professionals raising awareness of breast screening.
Administration staff – The admin team deal with appointments and run the main reception area.
