Staff, visitors and patients can expect a warm welcome in a comfortable and relaxing environment in all of our restaurant and coffee bars.
We are committed to providing good value, high-quality food and beverages.
The Hub
The Hub is the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s main dining room and is based near the Windy Nook entrance.
Visitors will find our popular Coffee Lounge serving hot and cold snacks, beverages, sandwiches and confectionery.
The Hub is open 8.30am until 2pm Monday to Friday with main meals served 12pm until 2pm.
Beacon Cafe, Tranwell Unit
The Beacon Cafe in the Tranwell Unit is open to visitors, patients and staff.
It serves a selection of both cold and hot snacks and drinks. Opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9.30am to 2.30pm.
Surgery centre café
This cafe is in the main entrance to the Peter Smith Surgery Centre. It is open 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday serving hot and cold beverages and snacks.
Costa, Subway and Amigos
On level 2 of the Emergency Care Centre there are three places where patients and visitors can find food and drink: Costa Coffee, Subway and Amigos.
Here, you can relax and grab a bite to eat under the gaze of the impressive statue Faith by Gateshead artist Joseph Hiller.
Costa Coffee is a branch of the national coffee chain, serving hot drinks and a selection of sandwiches, snacks, cakes and biscuits.
Subway is a branch of the national sandwich chain. It serves sub roll sandwiches, where you pick your own hot or cold fillings, as well as salads, breakfast options and more.
It is open Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 8pm and on Saturdays and Sundays between 8am and 8pm.
Amigos is the hospital’s grocery shop selling food-to-go, such as sandwiches, as well as a small selection of groceries like microwave meals and tins of soup alongside confectionery, magazines and newspapers. It also includes a Costa Coffee express machine. There is a cash machine which doesn’t charge for withdrawals.
It is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm and on Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
Entertainment
The Amigos shop at our main entrance sells snacks, drinks, books and magazines.
Hospedia runs a service where patients can pay to activate the television, radio and internet kiosks beside their beds.
