Mr Kiran Singisetti MS, FRCS (Tr & Orth) is a lower limb orthopaedic surgeon based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. He has a high volume clinical practice focussing on primary and revision (re-do) hip and knee replacement surgery. He also treats soft tissue knee disorders, such as meniscal and ACL injuries. He is passionate about trauma care and undertakes a variety of trauma-related surgeries, including complex periarticular and periprosthetic fracture fixation of the lower limb.
Following his basic and advanced surgical training in the North East, Mr Singisetti went on to complete the prestigious Cavendish Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship in Sheffield, UK, and then an AO Trauma Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA. He has also undertaken a number of other fellowships including the British Orthopaedic Association travelling fellowship (Toronto), British Association for Surgery of the Knee fellowship (New Delhi) and the Charnley Latta Travelling Scholarship.
Mr Singisetti has been the orthopaedic lead for hip fracture care at Gateshead since 2017. He has been involved in implementation of several quality improvement projects making the unit record high quality hip fracture care. The teamwork and leadership has made the Gateshead hip fracture team being the best in the North East and consistently in the top five units in the country for meeting best practice in hip fracture care.
Mr Singisetti was elected as a Staff Governor for the Trust in 2023.
Mr Singisetti has an interest in medical education and teaches on a number of regional, national, and international courses. He is a faculty member at Royal College of Surgeons courses, an ATLS instructor and on the panel of examiners for FRCS (Tr & Orth) exam. He is a Regional Surgical Ambassador for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, acting as a conduit of information to and from the college, including career advice and support for surgical trainees in the region.
Mr Singisetti has a wide research portfolio; he has given presentations at international gatherings such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the British Orthopaedic Association. He has authored several articles, book chapters, and co-edited a book.
