Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, Homelessness Nurse Practitioner, Angela Weeks has been given the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI). The title indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning, and leadership.
Angela shares what her role involves which has led to this recognition:
I have been employed by Gateshead Health for the past three years as a homelessness nurse practitioner and have been working at Basis in Gateshead, a drop-in centre dedicated to supporting individuals in the community who are experiencing homelessness, living in temporary housing, or at risk of becoming homeless. I run nurse-led clinics that are easily accessible in a welcoming environment, eliminating the need for appointments. My primary goal is to foster inclusivity and ensure that vulnerable patients receive timely treatment, helping to bridge the gap in healthcare access for those who need it most.
